This one day course is suitable for anyone starting out on their white water paddling journey, wanting to explore the role of an effective group member and learn simple strategies and safe skills that can provide the tools to solve common paddling issues.

This 1 day course is perfect for paddlers new to white water rivers. We will teach you how to prepare for a river trip, how to be a are group member and how to help if a rescue is being carried out. Our experienced and supportive instructors aim to leave leave you feeling more empowered and confident on the water.

This course follows a syllabus but emphasis can be placed in different areas depending on your experience and interests. We will look at...

1) Motivations and decisions
2) Clothing and equipment
3) The White Water environment
4) Preparing for the river trip
5) Swimming techniques
6) Choosing how to help a swimmer
7) What to do when we swim
8) Kit retrieval
9) Reflections and skills checklist

Requirements

- Completed a few grade 2 river trips
- Happy to swim in moving water
- Over 18, unless accompanied by a parent or guardian
